FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO KINGS, 14-0
IN FIRST ROUND OF BETTY RICHEY TOURNAMENT

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, Sept. 13, 2008 - Elms College senior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA) stopped 14 shots, but Kings College broke out to a six-goal halftime lead en route to a 14-0 non-conference field hockey shutout over the Blazers in the first round of the Betty Richey Tournament hosted by Vassar College.

The Monarchs broke out to a 6-0 halftime and coasted to the shutout victory.

With its victory, two-time Richey Tournament champion Kings (5-0) advanced to Sunday's 12:00 p.m. championship game to face Vassar for the third straight season. The host Brewers defeated MIT 1-0. Elms College (1-2) will face MIT in the consolation game on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Senior forward Debbie Wychock (Wilkes-Barre, PA) scored a season-high four goals, while three other Kings players scored two goals each, including sophomore Melissa Pirigy (Sayreville, NJ) and a pair of freshmen, forwards Heather Kozimor (Vienna, NJ) and Jenera Quinones (Wilkes-Barre, PA).

Sophomore forward Candice Russ (Dover, DE) had two assists for Kings. Wychock and Kozimor combined for 10 of the Monarch's 20 first half shots.
