ELMS COLLEGE FALLS TO WESTFIELD STATE, 7-0

CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 4, 2007 - Elms College junior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA) stopped four shots, but Westfield State senior forward Megan Wolski (Plymouth, MA) netted three goals to help lift the visiting Owls to a 7-0 shutout win over the Blazers in Tuesday's non-conference field hockey season opener for both teams at Leary Field.

Wolski, who scored a team-leading 18 goals last season, tallied in the 18th, 32nd, and 40th minutes in the Owls' (1-0) victory on Tuesday.

Junior midfielder Vicky Winson (Upton, MA), sophomore forward Kate Moss (Auburn, MA), freshman forward Amanda Burns (Hillsdale, NY) and junior forward Heather Beninati (Reading, MA) each scored a goal for the Owls, who jumped out to a 3-0 lead at intermission.

Senior Cat Hanks (Somers, CT) and sophomore Libby Bouley (North Brookfield, MA) combined for six stops in the Owls' victory.

Elms College (0-1) returns to non-conference play at the Vassar Tournament on Saturday, September 8. Game one is slated for 1:00 p.m.
