FIELD HOCKEY DEFEATED BY WELLESLEY, 8-0

Box score

SOUTH HADLEY, MA, Sep. 16, 2007 - Elms College junior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA) stopped eleven shots, but it was not enough to stop Wellesley sophomore forward Callie Lekas (Brewster, MA) from scoring four goals to lead the Blue to a decisive 8-0 victory in Sunday's non-conference field hockey game at Wellesley.

Lekas opened the scoring in the second minute of the contest when she blasted home a goal assisted by freshman forward Kathryn Frett (Hallowell, ME).  Wellesley would go on to add four more first half scores to push the Blue lead to 5-0 at intermission.

After intermission the Lasers tallied three insurance goals to help put away the Blazers.

With the victory Wellesley moves to a record of 3-1 on the season.  The loss drops Elms College to a mark of 1-5.

Elms College returns to non-conference play Wednesday, September 19 at Smith.
