Alex King

Elms College freshman baseball player Alex King (Lebanon, Conn.) was chosen as this month's male student athlete spotlight.

King, who completed his first season as a member of the Blazers' baseball program, is a sports management major at Elms.

King played in 24 of Elms' 34 games during the 2011 season and made 20 starts primarily in right field. King finished the campaign with a .242 batting average, a .979 fielding percentage, and struck for 15 hits to highlight his debut season. He also legged out a pair of doubles and drove in eight runs in addition to earning nine walks.

Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):

My favorite sports moment was hitting a bases-clearing double to win a game in a tournament.

Who has been your biggest influence outside of sports and why:

My biggest influence has been my father.

Why did you choose to attend Elms College:

I chose Elms College because of the baseball program and the fact that it's a small school.

Where is your favorite place to travel and why:

My favorite place to travel to is the beach because it is warm.

Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:

I'd like to travel to Costa Rica because of the climate.

What is your favorite sports book or movie:

My favorite movie is The Longest Yard.
