BASEBALL SWEPT BY CALUMET IN A DOUBLEHEADER AT THE DISNEY INVITATIONAL

ORLANDO, FL, March 13, 2008 - Elms College freshman shortstop Albert Betances (Haverhill, MA) and freshman third baseman Mike Andrews (Greenfield, MA) each had a pair of hits, Calumet College of Indiana earned 9-1 and 8-7 victories over the Blazers in Thursday afternoon's non-conference baseball doubleheader at the Disney Invitational.

The Blazers were swept for the second time in as many days and fell to 2-5 overall.

In the first game, Albert had a pair of singles for two of the Blazers four hits. Calumet broke the game open with four runs in both the second and sixth innings.

In the second game, The Blazers battled back from an early 5-0 deficit with a five-run, third inning to tie the game at 5-5. Calumet, however, plated three runs in the top of the seventh, and in the bottom of the frame, the Blazers plated two runs of their own but could not tally the game-tying run.

Sophomore pitcher Dan Ingraham (Granby, MA) allowed four earned runs in five innings of work, while Andrews went 2 for 3 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored.
