BASEBALL SWEPT BY ST. NORBERT

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL., Mar. 20, 2007 - Elms College sophomore center fielder Nick Mackowiak (Dudley, MA) tallied three hits in game two, but St. Norbert College registered a combined 35 hits to lift the Green Knights to a sweep of the Blazers in Tuesday's non-conference baseball doubleheader at the Port Charlotte Invitational.

Elms College (1-5), notched two runs on 7 hits, but St. Norbert (4-2) recorded an impressive 21 hits in game one to post a 21-2 victory over the Blazers.

Green Knight freshman pitcher Tony Jandron (Negaunee, MI) gave up 4 hits through five innings and struckout six in the victory.

In the second game, Elms College jumped to a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the first, but could only muster three runs over the next six innings as they dropped the second game, 10-8. 

Junior third baseman Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) and Mackowiak each finished 3 for 4 at the plate in game two.

The Blazers return to Port Charlotte Invitational action Wednesday, March 21, as they take on Hamilton in a double-header.
