BASEBALL SWEPT BY BETHEL UNIVERSITY

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL., Mar. 23, 2007 - Elms College junior third baseman Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) tallied two RBI in two games, but Bethel University combined for 34 hits to complete a sweep of the Blazers in Friday's non-conference baseball doubleheader at the Port Charlotte Invitational.  

With both losses, Elms College concludes the Port Charlotte Invitational with an overall record of 3-8-1, while Bethel University improves to 10-5 overall.

Bethel senior pitcher Matt Pokorn (Wheaton, IL) surrendered just three runs on as many hits through seven innings to lead the Royals to a 15-3 victory in game one.

Bethel sophomore pitcher Travis Adams (Chanhassen, MN) gave up just one hit on 3 hits in a complete-game performance to go along with seven strikeouts.

The Blazers return to non-conference action Wednesday, March 28, when they travel to Westfield State. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
