BASEBALL FALLS TO WNEC, 22-1

SPRINGFIELD, MA, April 10, 2007 - Elms College sophomore right fielder Joe Esile (Milford, CT) went 2 for 4 with a double but Western New England College (WNEC) senior first baseman Tom Horgan (Westfield, MA) went 4-for-5 with two RBI and sophomore left fielder Mike Beck (Whitesboro, MA) also went 4-for-5 with four singles to spark the Golden Bears to a 22-1 victory over the Blazers in Tuesday afternoon's non-conference baseball game at Trelease Park.

With the loss, Elms College loses its eighth straight to fall to 3-13-1 overall, while WNEC wins its second straight to improve to 13-7 overall.

WNEC junior shortstop Ryan Kravontka (Glastonbury, CT) had two doubles and senior pitcher Eric Blanchard (Worcester, MA) went five innings allowing just four hits and tallying three strikeouts in the win.

The Blazers return to action on Thursday, April 12 when they host Williams in a non-conference game. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at McKenzie Field.
